Our Programme
We’re transforming the future of jewellery craftsmanship through a unique blend of hands-on training and skill development. Located in the heart of Cape Town’s CBD, our Hybrid Factory facility is designed to be both accessible and inspiring, offering a dynamic environment where students can immerse themselves in the art and science of jewellery making.
Our approach is built on practical learning, with a focus on foundational principles and real-world applications. Students gain diverse, high-level skills through a rotating training model, allowing them to explore multiple areas of jewellery design and manufacturing. Regular assessments ensure that each individual’s progress is recognized, and certifications are awarded for their achievements. Our goal is to cultivate a skilled, adaptable workforce prepared to excel in the industry and contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s rich legacy of jewellery craftsmanship.
What we offer
Our Programme Objectives
Hands-On, Principle-Based Training
We believe in teaching through hands-on training, where students gain foundational principles alongside practical skills to prepare for real-world work in jewellery manufacturing.
High Standards and Continuous Assessment
Our program provides training in essential skill areas with quarterly assessments to track progress, recognize achievements, and set clear goals. This rotational approach equips students with diverse skills and awards certifications for accomplishments.
Building Efficiency and Versatility
By training multi-skilled individuals, we’re creating a workforce that’s efficient, versatile, and ready to meet the demands of a cost-effective, fully functional business environment.
1. Induction and Hands-On Training
The programme begins with an induction week to introduce learners to the factory environment, safety protocols, and expectations. Following this, they will move into practical training, starting with hand tools and basic manufacturing techniques. As learners progress, more advanced techniques and equipment will be introduced, allowing them to refine their skills and expand their knowledge of jewellery making.
2. Factory Flow and Production Line Training
Understanding factory flow is key to mastering jewellery manufacturing. Learners will gain an in-depth understanding of the production line process, including the maintenance and management of tools and equipment. Our workshop foreman, with expertise in mechanical and electrical equipment, will guide students on handling breakdowns and maintaining tools.
3. Health and Safety
We prioritise a safe learning environment, appointing dedicated health and safety representatives, first aiders, and fire marshals. These individuals ensure that occupational health and safety standards are consistently upheld throughout the training process, both for the learners and the facility.
4. Entrepreneurial Support
For those with an entrepreneurial spirit, we offer additional support to help turn passion into business. Students interested in starting their own ventures will have access to materials, equipment, and machinery, as well as a supportive network to assist with their entrepreneurial journey.
